The S30.world Takumi Series TS-001 is a precision-engineered bellhousing conversion kit developed to connect the NISMO 32010-RRS50 Reinforced 6-Speed Transmission to L-Series Conversion Kit to Nissan L-Series engines.
Developed specifically with classic Nissan and Datsun applications in mind, the TS-001 combines Japanese engineering, OEM-level manufacturing quality and real-world development to provide a reliable foundation for a modern 6-speed drivetrain while preserving the character of the legendary L-Series engine.

The NISMO 32010-RRS50 Reinforced 6-Speed Transmission was the first product to meet this standard. The choice was not based simply on strength or the NISMO name. It was selected because it provides the balance of refinement, durability and driving characteristics required for the S30-ONE program.

During the development of the S30-ONE drivetrain, numerous transmission solutions were evaluated. Some offered exceptional strength but compromised refinement, while others provided attractive gear ratios but required extensive vehicle modifications.

The objective was different: to create a drivetrain solution that feels as though Nissan itself could have engineered it for the S30 — retaining the mechanical character of the original car while providing the precision, durability and refinement expected from a modern grand touring car.

After extensive evaluation, the NISMO 32010-RRS50 Reinforced 6-Speed Transmission consistently stood apart.

Developed and Crafted in Japan

Selecting the right transmission was only part of the project. Installing it correctly required the same level of engineering attention.

Instead of adapting a weld-on bellhousing solution, S30.world partnered with one of Japan’s respected engineering and prototyping specialists to develop an entirely new bellhousing.

Every Takumi Series component is developed with this long-standing Japanese engineering partner, whose decades of experience include designing high-performance components for Japanese OEMs. The resulting products are trusted by enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Using S30 and S31 development vehicles, each design is refined through extensive real-world road testing before being evaluated by the S30.world team and approved for use in the S30-ONE program.

Why Starting With a New 6-Speed Transmission Matters

The newest original Nissan four-speed transmission is now more than forty years old, while the newest original Nissan five-speed gearbox has also seen decades of service. Many original transmissions have been rebuilt — some more than once. Even the finest rebuild, however, cannot completely remove decades of accumulated wear from bearings, shafts, synchronizers and gearsets.

Starting with an entirely new OEM transmission changes the outcome significantly.

With the NISMO 32010-RRS50:

Driving Experience

The NISMO Reinforced 6-Speed retains the characteristics enthusiasts appreciate about a traditional Nissan manual gearbox while introducing the precision expected from a modern performance transmission. Its revised close-ratio gearset provides stronger acceleration while maintaining effortless motorway cruising.

Unlike many motorsport-derived transmissions, the NISMO gearbox remains remarkably civilized during everyday driving. Whether crossing mountain passes or enjoying a Sunday morning drive, it never feels out of place.

This combination of performance and refinement is precisely why TS-001 became the standard manual transmission solution for future S30.world S30-ONE builds.

The TS-001 bellhousing conversion kit has been developed for Nissan L-Series powered vehicles, including:

• Nissan Fairlady Z (S30 / S31) – L20 and L24
• Datsun 240Z – L24 (1970–1973)
• Datsun 260Z – L26 (1974)
• Datsun 280Z – L28 (1975–1978)
• Datsun 280ZX – L28E and L28ET (1979–1983)
• Nissan Fairlady 280Z (S130) – L20, L28E and L28ET
• Basically all cars equipped with an L-Series engine

The complete conversion has been engineered to provide OEM-level fit, reliability and long-term serviceability, while preserving the character of Nissan’s legendary L-Series drivetrain.

Final Drive Ratios

Selecting the correct final drive ratio is equally important. During development of the S30-ONE, numerous combinations of engine specifications, tyre diameters and differential ratios were evaluated to achieve the desired driving characteristics. The ideal ratio remains a personal choice and depends on the vehicle and intended use.

Additional Components Required

Please note that the TS-001 conversion requires additional components depending on the vehicle and original transmission configuration.

• For early S30 cars originally using A transmissions, an easy solution can be fabricated yourself.
• For later S30/S31 cars originally using B transmissions, a simple kit is included to adapt your existing OEM crossmember.
• A custom driveshaft with the correct transmission yoke and length is required.
• Bellhousing gaskets must be fabricated by the installer.
• For Nissan S130 / 280ZX and other L-Series applications, a custom transmission crossmember must be fabricated by the installer.
• For S30/S31 applications, a billet aluminium transmission mount can be purchased separately in the shop.
• Early S30 transmission mounting bracket for cars fitted with an “A” speed transmission until approximately October 1971.
• Late S30 / S31 transmission mounting bracket for cars originally fitted with a “B” transmission from October 1971 through the end of S30/S31 chassis production.
